Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State, in a statewide broadcast on Wednesday, commemorated the 34th anniversary of the state’s creation by honoring its founding fathers and unveiling his administration's performance. Marking the date of Osun’s creation on August 27, 1991, Adeleke described it as a result of years of agitation, sacrifice, and vision by leaders committed to self-determination. He acknowledged the courage of traditional rulers, political leaders, and community advocates whose efforts laid the foundation for modern Osun.
Reaffirming his commitment to good governance, Adeleke highlighted key achievements including the installation of borehole water in all 332 wards, road construction, rural electrification, and the provision of transformers to underserved areas. In healthcare, he reported that over 60,000 residents benefitted from the Imole Surgical and Medical Outreach, while over 30,000 were enrolled in the Osun Health Insurance Scheme. He added that more than 200 primary healthcare centres had been renovated.
In education, the governor noted the ongoing renovation of schools statewide. Economically, he cited initiatives such as regular salary payments, fertiliser subsidies, tractor support for farmers, and empowerment schemes for small businesses. While acknowledging ongoing challenges, he emphasized the enduring resilience of Osun’s people.
Governor Adeleke urged citizens to uphold unity, transparency, and the Omoluabi values, stating that the vision of a prosperous and inclusive Osun is achievable through collective effort. Expressing gratitude for public support, he called on stakeholders including traditional rulers, civil servants, farmers, and entrepreneurs to remain partners in progress.
